Barbara L. Legate named Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury Litigation

March 1, 2010 (London, ON) – Barbara L. Legate of the London, Ontario law firm, Legate & Associates, has been named Lawyer of the Year in Personal Injury Litigation in the London to Windsor area for 2010 by the publication The Best Lawyers in Canada.

About Barbara L. Legate

Barbara L. Legate practices in London at Legate & Associates, Personal Injury Lawyers. She believes in results for injured children, adults and their families and is noted for taking on difficult cases for seriously injured people. Her practice is known particularly for incidents of serious injury, wrongful death, birth trauma, car crashes, recreational injuries, and faulty premises. Barbara is past president (1998-99) of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA), and was recognized in 2009 at the OTLA Celebration of the Personal Injury Bar. The L’Expert Canadian Legal Directory lists Barbara with its highest peer-review rating: Most Recommended.

Barbara is also a contributor to the legal community in continuing legal education, chairing prestigious conferences including: the Law Society of Upper Canada Special Lectures in Personal Injury Law; the upcoming OTLA conference on Insurance Law; Superior Court of Justice conferences; as a lecturer at The University of Western Ontario Law School; and is a published author on personal injury matters. She is an active director of the Brain Injury Association of London and Region, where she developed the "Bike Helmet Campaign" to provide bike helmets to children in London schools, and chaired the Canadian Paraplegic Association London Wheelchair Rally. She obtained her L.L.B. at the University of Western Ontario in 1979 and was called to the Bar in 1981.
